The Joint Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Force approved by the GCC Summit in Kuwait earlier this month will be stationed at the King Khaled Military Base in Hafr Al-Baten, an official said. “The Kingdom will provide most of the manpower for the infantry force,” said Maj. Gen. Khalifah Al-Ka'abi, Assistant General Secretary of the GCC Council for Military Affairs. The GCC countries will later agree on the amount of manpower and equipment that they will each provide to the force, he said. The force, which was proposed by Bahrain, will be specially trained for quick military intervention to address security threats in the Gulf region. The force will intervene in situations similar to the incursion into Saudi Arabia by infiltrators which occurred earlier this year.
