Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz, Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Inetrior, urged Muslims to guard against misinterpretation of the Glorious Qur'an and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). “Sunnah is the second source of legislation after the Holy Qur'an and the onus on Islamic scholars to see that there is no attempt to misinterpret it,” Prince Naif said and warned that any attempt to manipulate them would result in disunity among the Muslim ranks. Prince Naif, who is also Chairman of the Supreme Commission of Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz International Award for Prophet's Sunnah and Contemporary Islamic Studies, was patronizing Wednesday the closing ceremony of handing over the award in its fourth session held by the general secretariat of the award. Dr. Abdul Qadir Bin Abdul Kareem Jondal, Dr. Muhammad Bin Saud Al-Bishr and late Sheikh Ahmad Bin Muhammad Abdul Qadir were Wednesday awarded Prince Naif International Award for Prophet's Sunnah. Dr. Jondal from Pakistan, who won the award in the field of Contemporary Islamic Studies, was given a check of SR500,000, a medal and a citation. Dr. Jondal won the award for his study on relief work in Islam – a contemporary study. Dr. Muhammad Bin Saud Al-Bishr was also given a check of SR500,000, a medal and a citation for his study on “Freedom of expression in Islam.” A SR200,000 check was given posthumously to late Sheikh Ahmad Bin Muhammad Abdul Qadir, whose son received the award. The fourth award (Prophet's Sunnah) was withheld this year as the researches did not measure up to the standard set by the awarding committee. Prince Naif said he felt happy at meeting a number of Islamic scholars and thinkers and people concerned with Islamic affairs.
