Some 33,000 liters of diesel fuel spilled all over the road when a tanker truck skidded on the Jeddah-Makkah highway on Monday. The truck rolled over and caught fire, while part of its fuel haul covered the width of the road. Firefighters used anti-combustion chemical foam to put out the fire as a precautionary measure to prevent passing vehicles from skidding due to the thickness of the fuel oil. Firefighters succeeded in dealing with the incident in less than an hour and to contain the fire, while traffic control cruisers directed traffic around the rolled-over truck and later cleared the wreckage. The incident took place at noon on Monday when the truck hit a fence. Firefighters rescued the driver, who was trapped inside the cabin of the tractor-trailer. – Okaz __
