Minister of Labor Dr. Ghazi Al-Gosaibi said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's policy in the development of human resources relies on training in the private and public sectors, and jointly by the two. The labor minister made the remarks in a speech he delivered at the opening of an Arab Human Resources conference here Tuesday. The minister detailed efforts to train Saudis and hoped these efforts will provide enough trainees to the Saudi economy in the coming years. He said that in the public sector the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation is training about 100,000 Saudis through 35 technical colleges and 90 technical institutes, adding that it is planned to increase these training facilities three-fold so that the number of trainees would reach 300,000 within the next 5 years. Al-Gosaibi said that the private sector comprises 740 training establishments that are currently training 60,000 Saudi men, in addition to 290 other training facilities that are training 11,000 Saudi women. The minister said that the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation is to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of these facilities, aiming to eventually keep only the competent ones in the human resources market.
