Sheikh Muhammad Bin Hasan Aal Al-Sheikh, member of the Board of Senior Ulama and the Ifta Standing Committee, said it is permissible for people in flood-hit areas to pray in their homes if they fear contracting diseases. “Whoever cannot go out to the mosque due to rains and fear of getting wet or catching diseases from the resulting mud, can pray at his home. It has been narrated by Ibn Umar in an authentic Hadith that the Prophet (peace be upon him) permitted Muslims to pray at homes during cold, windy and rainy nights,” said Aal Al-Sheikh. In such circumstances, the Muezzin would call the faithful to prayer by making the Athan, but would conclude it by asking them to pray at home. “It is better for Muslims to pray in the mosque in congregation. But if they are going to encounter harm, then they can pray in their homes. Islam facilitates matters for people,” said Aal Al
