Hijaz-XI (Blue) emerges JCA-Harazi T10 Cup champ

XI (Blue) emerged champion of a novel dawn to dusk cricket championship which was organized by Jeddah Cricket Association (JCA) during the Haj holidays at the JCA Cricket Complex in Usfan here.
This event was sponsored by Abdul Hadi Sulaiman Sharaf Al-Harazi Contracting & Trading Est.
The announcement of this new tourney, dubbed as T10 Cricket following the pattern of the big-hit Twenty20 format, made the cricket-crazy expats thrilled and JCA which launched this event to make the game popular in the Kingdom, had to reluctantly limit the number of entries to 16 due to the practical difficulty of finishing the matches before it got dark. Still, the final had to be reduced to a four-over affair for want of light.
Hijaz-XI (Blue) capped its efforts with a 10-wicket win over Zinda Talismath to claim the coveted honors. In the semifinals, Hijaz-XI defeated Pak Young and Zinda Talismath got the better of Barracuda Arabia.
The prize distribution function began with the recitation of Holy Qur'an by A.A.Merchant. JCA President Mohammed Iqbal delivered the welcome address and Dr.Faiz Al Abideen, JCA Chairman, addressed the gathering and appreciated the efforts of JCA committee. Waqas standing chief guest from Harazi Est. On behalf of Chowdry Mohammad Ashraf Gulam, Waqas lauded JCA and promised that Al-Harazi Est. would support JCA in future also.
Former pakistan international player Saeed Anwar could not attend the entet due to heavy rains in Makkah but conveyed his best wishes to JCA. Guests Martin Clerici and Roy Stevens of M.H.Harasani Associates and Abdul Qadar Qasim of Fatima Aqqad Est. graced the function.
Hijaz-XI (Blue) earned a cup and SR3000 as winner, while runner-up Zinda Tilismath bagged a cup and SR2000 and Barracuda Arabia won a cup and SR1000 being thid.
Other awards and cash prizes went to the following: Jaweed Ahmed of Zinda Tilismath, Man of the Tournament, SR500; Syed Afroz of Hijaz-XI (Blue), Best batsman, SR250; Faheem of Hijaz-XI (Blue), Best Bowler, SR.250. There were particiaption cup to 16 teams, man of the match awards and appreciation awards for the coordinators and volunteers.

Zinda Tilismath 63-3 in 4 overs (Jaweed Ahmed 34, Ibrahim 13, Naveed 2-2, Wajid one wicket). Hijaz-XI 71 for no loss (Syed Mohd. Afroz 38*, Wahaj 10*).
Third place:
Barracuda Arabia (ICC) 82-5 in 5 overs. Pak Young just 8 in 1.5 overs. Due to bad light Barracuda was declared winner.
