Police say they have detained the killer of a Pakistani man whose body was discovered with a slit throat in the basement of a residential complex in the north of Jeddah on Tuesday. After questioning some 600 residents of the area and investigating gate records of the guarded housing complex, police identified the killer as a 19-year-old Pakistani male who was a personal acquaintance of his victim. When questioned, the suspect claimed that he was acting in self-defense. The accused provided signed confessions at Al-Salama Police Station on Wednesday and the case will now go to court. The body of the victim was discovered on Tuesday after neighbors reported a “foul smell” emanating from a room at the site. Officials did not specify when the killing took place, only to say that the state of the victim's body pointed to a murder “some time ago”.
