“I vow to Almighty Allah, the King and sons of this region that I will execute all the projects in the region.” These were the words of Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah Region, here Monday while reviewing the King Abdul Aziz Road Project to be carried out in Makkah. He stressed the importance of strict adherence to the deadlines of the project and to compensate owners of expropriated buildings on which the project will be built. He said that landlords have the choice to sell their buildings or become partners in the project. Dr. Osama Al-Bar, Mayor of Makkah, and members of the developing company, had earlier briefed Prince Khaled on all the work needed, including the removal of buildings and the preparation of the site. The developing company, which has been assigned to carry out the project, said the evacuation and removal of the buildings had been divided into three stages. The first stage would be carried out west of Jabl Omar Project to Gurhum Street; the second stage covers the area located on the west of Abdullah Al-Arif Street to the third Ring Road; and the third and final stage is in the area of King Abdullah Masjid. The company said the first stage, to remove buildings and transfer services to the site, begins next Moharram. The second stage takes place in Rajab and the last stage in Moharram 1432 H. Prince Khaled viewed models of the King Abdul Aziz and Jabl Omar projects and the plan for handling cars, trains, pedestrians, buses and traffic flow in the Ring Road. Prince Khaled also met with the chairman and members of the board of directors of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and stressed its significant role in the region's development process.
