China's Su Bingtian and Tao Yujia held off Japanese rivals to take the 100-meter sprint titles at the East Asian Games Saturday. Su claimed the men's title by crossing in 10.33 seconds - 0.06 seconds before Shintaro Kimura. Tao posted a winning time of 11.70 seconds, with Mayumi Watanabe trailing by 0.13 seconds. But Japan found winning form in other track and field events, taking gold in the men's and women's 400-meter hurdles and the men's discus. South Korea's Jung Hye-kyung came first in the women's triple jump, while China took out the women's hammer throw. Elsewhere, China also dominated rowing, sweeping all seven golds on the last day of the event. Host Hong Kong enjoyed a successful day, wrapping up its squash campaign with all-Hong Kong finals in the men's, women's and mixed doubles to guarantee the region all seven golds in the event. In the only sport where it has produced an Olympic champion, Hong Kong took three of the four golds in windsurfing. Hong Kong cyclists also swept the podium in the men's individual road race. South Korea had two golds in ten-pin bowling, clinching the men's and women's masters titles.
