Peace prize
WHEN Obama uses the rostrum at the Nobel Peace Prize awards to justify the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan and says quite blatantly “we will not eradicate violent conflicts in our lifetimes” he is really insulting everyone's intelligence – especially the people gathered to listen to him receive the Nobel Peace Prize!
Obama has been touched by the devil. This is no more the Obama who won the elections. He has been fully co-opted by the dark forces who inhabit the upper echelons of power in the US and every where else.
But my view is that the Nobel Peace Prize Commitee has become part of this game. Otherwise how in the name of dynamite can the Peace Prize be awarded to Al Gore for his con-game about global warming? And how can Obama's nomination be accepted hardly a month after he became president this year?
When they announced the award to Obama, the Nobel Peace Prize committee cited the “promise of peace” that Obama was bringing. That promise is now coming true in the form of 30,000 extra troops in Afghanistan and with an American commitment ‘for the long haul' in Afghanistan and Iraq.
My question is this : when the Taliban send more Americans home in body bags and finally kick them out of Afghanistan will the Taliban be awarded a Peace Prize too?
Please recall Le Duc Tho. He was the North Vietnamese Politburo Member who was also awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1973 (along with Henry Kissinger) after negotiating a truce between the US and North Vietnam. The Vietcong sent thousands of Americans home in body bags and had kicked out the Americans from Vietnam.

Facebook
Facebook announced this week that its 350 million users will be prompted to make their status messages and shared content publicly visible to the world at large and search engines. It's a move we expected but the language used in the announcement is near Orwellian. The company says the move is all about helping users protect their privacy and connect with other people, but the new default option is to change from “old settings” to becoming visible to “everyone.”
This is not what Facebook users signed up for. It's not about privacy at all, it's about increasing traffic and the visibility of activity on the site.
According to the video explaining the changes, the new default for status messages is “everyone.” That's a huge change. Of course it's not hard for people to keep their existing privacy settings, but confusion around what those settings are is hardly resolved by the phrase “old settings”.

Settlers
According to a news report: “An Israeli minister has predicted there will be 10,000 new settlers in the occupied West Bank over the next 10 months and insisted that a moratorium did not freeze but only limited construction.”
The minister was saying this to try to placate extremist protesters who are engaging in civil disobedience (and worse) over the supposed freeze on settlement building that is currently in place. That didn't stop settlers from going into a West Bank village and torching the local mosque.
