GCC foreign ministers are set to meet in Kuwait Sunday to draft the final agenda of the 30th GCC summit scheduled for Monday. Apart from this, the ministers will discuss the recommendations, draft resolutions, final communiqué and Kuwait Declaration in preparation for forwarding them to the GCC leaders for their approval. Prince Saud Al-Faisal, foreign minister, will lead the Kingdom's delegation to the one-day meeting. Informed sources said the GCC foreign and finance ministers will hold a joint meeting Sunday to discuss the economic issues to be reviewed by the GCC leaders, particularly the inauguration of the first phase of the GCC unified electrical grid which will be officially launched during the summit. The first phase covers Bahrain, the Kingdom, Qatar and Kuwait. The second phase covers Oman and the United Arab Emirates and the third and final phase links all member states. The sources said the GCC unified currency will be launched during the summit under the umbrella of the monetary council which is tasked with the unification of monetary policies between the member states' central banks. Bahrain will officially present its candidate Muhammad Al-Mutawwa' for the post of secretary general of the Gulf Cooperation Council in place of Abdulrahman Al-Attiyah. The GCC countries concerns over Iran's nuclear program will also be discussed; a program that GCC countries have always urged Iran to use it for peaceful purposes for the overall security of the region. The summit is also expected to give its full support to the steps taken by the Kingdom in defense of its territories. Overall developments in the regional and international arenas will also be discussed by the leaders including the challenges facing the Arab countries and the GCC states, as well as the Palestinian and Israeli conflict, the situation in Iraq and the UAE's relations with Iran. Iranian intervention in Yemen, its support of rebels in the Sa'dah region of the country and the latest developments on the Saudi-Yemeni border will also be on the GCC Summit agenda.
