The Saudi Air Force and ground artillery killed and injured an unstated number of infiltrators on Friday in a “preemptive strike” to prevent a group from entering the Kingdom, a military source said. “Small groups of infiltrators tried to launch an attack against Saudi forces at mountains in Al-Remah, Al-Doud and the Al-Moqed,” the official said. The targeted areas, according to the source, were located opposite Mt. Dokhan, Mt. Al-Doud and Mt. Al-Remah from where infiltrators regularly launch attacks. It was also reported that Saudi tribesmen on the Jizan border had captured and handed over to authorities a number of infiltrators attempting to cross into Saudi territory. Al-Sharq Al-Awsat Arabic daily reported that a suicide attack had been foiled by the Saudi military at the border. No further details were provided, but a military official was cited as saying that air and ground operations were continuing and that all were being conducted within Saudi territory. Unidentified children Security sources said on Friday that police in the city of Jizan had detained approximately 20 children of unknown identities aged between 10 and 15 who are believed to have been “snuck into the Kingdom” by infiltrators. The children, who the sources said were rounded up at various locations on the city's streets, reportedly told officials that infiltrators had arranged their entry into Saudi territory. Okaz sources added that Yemen Police in Haradh stopped the same day three children of unknown identities from entering the Kingdom. The three, all aged under 13, had reportedly been sent by a 29-year-old man who was detained for questioning. It was reported in Al-Sharq Al-Awsat on Friday that 1,805 persons attempting to enter the Kingdom's territory had been arrested over the first ten days of December. Some of the detained are believed to be rebels who have clashed with Saudi and Yemeni forces, and the group was also said to contain African refugees.
