Exactly 321 Filipinos in Qatar took the first licensure examinations conducted by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) for architecture and engineering last week, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Wednesday. Citing a report from the Philippine embassy in Qatar, the DFA said the PRC Board of Examiners gave the first licensure examinations in architecture as well as civil, electrical and mechanical engineering at the Philippine International School in Qatar on Dec. 2 - 3. Of the 321 examinees, 90 took the exams in civil engineering, 100 in architecture, 27 in mechanical engineering, 56 in mechanical engineering, 31 in registered electrical engineering and 17 in professional electrical engineering. PRC Board of Civil Engineers chairman, Apollo Enriquez, said the results will be announced by early 2010, though other professional engineering institutions may do it before the year ends. He said the examinations in Qatar are a big help to those who have long been working there but did not have time to take the board exams.
