Mamdouh Salem, the Saudi filmmaker and director and producer of Rawad Media, production and distribution will participate in the eight-day 6th International Dubai Film Festival starting Wednesday. “My new title of cultural ambassador of Saudi Arabia has allowed me to become a part of the festival's organizing committee,” he said. The title, he elaborated, will help him strengthen international relations through exchange of knowledge and experience in the field of cultural management. Besides, it would help him in establishing a network of global relations and cultural management and to provide opportunities for dialogue and understanding of the importance of culture for economic and social communities of the world, he said. “The Dubai International Film Festival is a leading and a distinctive cultural event to promote dialogue between cultures and instil a spirit of tolerance in today's world. It contributes in the creation of a global language through the language of cinema, addresses hearts and minds and discusses topics of interests common to mankind,” said Mamdouh. The festival, he explained, works to celebrate excellence in the world of cinema and adoption of a tool to open channels of dialogue between cultures and peoples to develop, promote local talent on a global level and accelerate the growth of the film industry. Samer Sabil, director of creative projects at the British Council, said the Dubai International Film Festival is a base for Arab filmmakers since its beginning in 2004, to display their creation in front of audiences and lead the movement of the film industry in the region.
