The Palestinian National Authority is keen on reopening its embassy in Manila to strengthen relations with the Philippines soonest, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Monday. The DFA said the PNA President Mahmoud Abbas relayed this position to new Philippine Ambassador to Jordan Julius Torres Sunday. “(Abbas said) the Palestinian National Authority is keen on reopening its embassy in Manila and would appoint a resident ambassador who would be tasked to strengthen relations between Manila and Ramallah as soon as possible,” the DFA said. During the meeting, Torres had presented his letter of credence as non-resident Ambassador to Palestine to Abbas at the Palestinian Embassy in Amman. Torres also presented the letter of recall of his predecessor, Ambassador Jose del Rosario Jr.
