Government security forces in Metro Manila have been placed on “blue” alert in anticipation of possible spill-over of tense situation in Maguindanao which has been placed under martial law. The forces from the military's National Capital Regional Command (NCRCOM) and the police's National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) are now on “blue” or “heightened” alert. A “blue” or “heightened” alert status means that 75 percent of their forces are now on standby alert and ready to respond to any eventuality that may arises such as terror attacks of rebellion. “We are on a blue alert status. This is just to ensure our readiness to respond to any contingency here in Metro Manila,” NCRCOM Chief Maj. Gen. Reynaldo Mapagu said in an interview. He further said that as of the moment, they have not yet received any information or indicators that the tense situation in Maguindanao could spill-over to Metro Manila. “So far, we have not monitored anything or received information that would indicate that there's any threat of spillover of violence from Maguindanao to Metro Manila,” Mapagu said.
