The Filipino couple who admitted to the police they killed their Filipina housemaid two years ago and cemented her remains in one of the rooms in their flat will be charged with murder, according to Brigadier General Yusuf Al-Qahtani, spokesman of the Ministry of Interior in the Eastern Province. The husband, an electrician, and the wife, a nurse, are now in police custody. “Formalities for the filing of murder case against the couple are now being finalized, while forensic investigations are on,” said Al-Qahtani. The couple confessed to their crime Saturday. Police investigations revealed that the couple beat the housemaid to death, who was 21 years old then, sometime in April 2007, because, according to the wife, she (the housemaid) was maltreating and abusing their children. The police said the wife mauled the housemaid several times with a baseball bat. Not satisfied with the beating by his wife, the husband joined the beating by punching her until she lost consciousness. “The couple tried to revive her but she was already dead,” Al-Qahtani said. According to their confession to the police, the couple tried to dump the body of housemaid along the Jubail-Dammam highway, but changed their mind. They took the body back to their flat and decided to cut the remains into pieces, sealed the dismembered body parts in medical bags, and placed them in a freezer while digging a portion of the room where they entombed and cemented the chopped remains.
