South African Retief Goosen led Australian Robert Allenby and US Masters champion Angel Cabrera by two strokes after the third round of the Sun City Golf Challenge at the Gary Player Country Club Saturday. The local favorite eagled the par-five ninth and had birdies on the second, 10th and 14th holes on his way to a five-under-par 67 for a total of 12 under. All of the big-hitting Goosen's sub-par scores came on the par-fives and his 67 could have been significantly better had he not missed three short birdie putts elsewhere. Allenby and Argentine Cabrera both shot 68s to go 10-under-par. The Australian birdied the first two holes before a bogey at the fifth robbed him of momentum. He came back with three straight birdies from the eighth and scored another on the 13th, before dropping a shot at the 17th. Cabrera had a frustrating time on the greens, but birdies at the first, ninth, 10th, 12th and 16th were enough to keep him in the hunt. His only bogey came at the par-four third. Britain's Ross Fisher and Swede Henrik Stenson were tied at eight-under-par. American Nick Watney and South African Tim Clark were on seven-under. Northern Irish player Rory McIlroy withdrew from the tournament before Saturday's round with a viral infection. He would have started the day at the back of the field on five over.
