Jamia District have urged the Jeddah Mayoralty to pump out stagnant flood water from various parts of the district. Also, the residents have complained about the accumulation of waste in the alleys covered with rainwater and overflowing septic tanks. The complaint on Saturday alleged that the cleaning teams did not exert enough effort to clean waste from the district. Al-Jamia residents are also bitter that the Water and Sanitary Drainage Authority has turned a deaf ear to their repeated complaints regarding the drainage issue. They said the overflowing of drainage water serves as a breeding ground for mosquitoes threatening the outbreak of several infectious diseases such as dengue fever and malaria. They also expressed concern about their school-age children since most of the schools in the area are surrounded by pools of water formed by the floods.
