A 24-year-old man is now being held as the suspect in the killings of three children of an overseas Filipino worker in Davao last Wednesday. Police arrested Dandan Ampo, a cousin of the three children, after witnesses tagged him in the grisly murder in Purok Uno in Manay village in Panabo City earlier this week. The suspect's personal belongings such as a ball cap an slippers helped police track him, the Mindanao Daily Mirror reported Saturday. Victims Maridel Dapitan, 15, and brothers Melvin, 9, and Marvin, 8, were found with multiple stab wounds. But Ampo, in an interview with dxDC-RMN Davao, denied the charge and claimed he was already sleeping when the incident happened. He said he did not know why he was implicated in the crime, and denied owning the ball cap and slippers found in the crime scene. “My conscience is clear that I have done nothing wrong. I only pray that justice will be served on my cousins' murder and I hope that truth will come out soon,” he said in the vernacular. Police said the victims' father is working overseas while their mother went to Leyte to attend to an important matter.
