Authorities arrested an Indian national for the forgery of government documents after raiding his photo studio in Jeddah's Safa District Thursday. The man is believed to have netted over SR1.5 million from his illegal activity. Acting on tip-offs, police put the man under tight surveillance with an undercover officer posing as a customer shopping for a forged national ID. The man asked for a photograph and a SR1,200 fee to do the job. The man was arrested as he was delivering the forged document. The man, whose name was not disclosed, said that he had others to help him. He used the studio to design the forged image on a CD and took it home for printing with the help of a friend, he said. Police found over 100 forged documents in his possession ready for delivery. Some were forged for over SR5,000 each, he said. Bank statements and credit cards were also seized. Police have launched their investigation.
