A source at the Civil Defense in Jeddah has denied claims that flood victims across the city are not getting enough to eat. There was no shortage of food being supplied to victims housed in apartments and shelters at Al-Bawadi, Al-Nozha district and Al-Tahlyia Street, said the source. The source said there have been complaints but this has been dissatisfaction with the method of providing the food. Some charities have allegedly provided meals to individuals. However, the Makkah Emirate is expected to reveal a plan which will govern the way food is distributed. The flood victims living in furnished flats in the city have voiced their dissatisfaction over the rations they have received. They have also complained that they are now being accommodated in areas far from the schools of their children. This is making life difficult for them because many have lost their cars in the floods. Muhammad Al-Juhani, one of the evacuees, has criticized the poor quality of meals. He also claims the standard of housing provided for him is poor. He said his entire family, including his wife and seven children, were barefooted when they left his house. Ali Al-Sewhri said he was forced to leave his house because of the floods, with his aging mother and seven children. After a long day of waiting, all they were given was a small packet of pastries.
