Mike Rupp shook off a leg injury in the third period, snapped a tie with his second goal of the night, and then completed his first NHL hat trick to help the Pittsburgh Penguins down the New York Rangers 5-2 in the NHL Monday. Rupp's first goal gave Pittsburgh a 2-1 lead in the second period and his second made it 3-2 with 8:46 remaining. Rupp left the ice for the dressing room about 5 1/2 minutes earlier after he banged his left leg against the boards after being hit from behind by defenseman Dan Girardi. Rupp scored into an empty net with 1:40 remaining to give him a career-high eight goals. Marian Gaborik scored both Rangers goals to push his NHL-leading total to 21. Red Wings 4, Stars 1: At Detroit, Todd Bertuzzi had a goal and an assist, and Jimmy Howard made 29 saves to lift Detroit over Dallas. Drew Miller, Darren Helm and Dan Cleary also scored for Detroit, which snapped its home scoreless streak at 1 hour, 56 minutes and 30 seconds. Kris Draper added two assists for the Red Wings, who hadn't scored at home since Nov. 20. Brenden Morrow scored for Dallas and Marty Turco stopped 28 shots. Flames 5, Predators 0: At Nashville, Tennessee, Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 22 shots for his second shutout in a row, and Jarome Iginla and Curtis Glencross each had a goal and an assist for Calgary. It was the third shutout of the season for Kiprusoff, who also blanked Detroit 3-0 Friday night. He has 33 shutouts in his career. David Moss, Nigel Dawes and Adam Pardy also scored for Calgary, which won its fourth in a row and third straight on the road.
