The slaughterhouses and slaughtering units at the holy sites are geared up today to start their work for the Day of Sacrifice or Eid Al-Adha. The mayoralty has prepared five units for slaughtering in the Al-Mu'aissim area with a capacity of 1.5 million head of sheep, camels and cattle. The units have the latest equipment and technology. Dr. Safi Bin Abdullah Mujallid, Supervisor General of the Slaughtering Units in Makkah Mayoralty, said the mayoralty is keen to ensure this ritual is carried out in a hygienic manner. He urged pilgrims to keep away from all activities that might cause pollution or disease. Mujallid said the mayoralty has set up 57 inspection points at the gateways to the holy sites to prevent the entry of livestock into these areas. Officials have been authorized to impound illegal livestock in special sheds and to make sure everyone abides by the regulations. Mujallid said the inspection points have been distributed geographically to cover all the areas leading to the holy sites. They have been supported with personnel from the Public Security and the Mujahideen Administration, who will monitor and organize the entry of livestock.
