A six-member gang of pickpockets that preyed on old ladies in a market in Al-Qawz to the south of Al-Qunfudha were arrested Sunday and found to be carrying 7,000 riyals, allegedly the result of a single day's thieving. Police said the six, who were officially employed as plumbers, painters and farm hands, confessed to using the crowded market place to steal from handbags and persons using their “sleight of hand”.
