Faisal, Emir of the Makkah region and Head of the Central Haj Committee, launched a special Haj morals campaign titled “Haj is Worship and Civil Behavior” Sunday to help reduce improper behavior during this year's pilgrimage. The media campaign is aimed at telling people to follow the rules. This includes that all pilgrims get proper licenses to perform Haj. Businesspeople will also be warned not to sell fake goods. The campaign also tells people not to beg. “During this year's Haj season, the Saudi government will try its best to clamp down on violations and negative phenomenon, such as selling fake products and begging. We also aim to increase the awareness level among the pilgrims about the importance of having licenses to perform Haj.” “Another important issue is for buses not to carry more than 25 pilgrims. In addition, all vehicles must be licensed by the Municipality. This is to ensure the safety of pilgrims,” said Prince Khaled. “All police officers and officials will work 24 hours to fight the begging phenomenon,” added Prince Khaled. The Ministry of Haj will issue severe sentences and fines for those who violate the rules, said the Emir. He said that local Haj companies should not accept more than their official quota of pilgrims. He added that pilgrims should not think that they can break the rules. “Being a pilgrim is not an excuse that allows you to break the rules of Islam and the Kingdom.”
