The first thing you notice as you enter this camp is the effort that has been made to ensure the comfort of the refugees who have been evacuated from their homes as a result of the ongoing action taken by the Saudi armed forces against the infiltrators from Yemen. Saudi Civil Defense is working day and night to provide services to the 7,500 registered refugees who are currently living in 500 tents. The camp, which is exclusively for Saudi refugees holding an official identification card as proof of their Saudi nationality, has been provided with tents, food, clothes and other supplies by Ahad Al-Masareha and Al-Anood charity organizations, the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY), the Ministry of Finance, and Saudi businessmen and businesswomen. Jizan Municipality has provided more than 400 light poles and 480 trash containers to the camp which is organized in blocks to facilitate the movement of refugees inside the camp. The Ministry of Health has set up two clinics, one for men and the other for women, staffed by nine doctors and 12 nurses who are available around the clock daily. In addition, they distribute sanitary facemasks in order to protect refugees from the spread of disease. More than 1,000 boxes of bottled water and 1,800 meals are distributed daily by volunteers who are university, technical college and high school students from Jizan. School and university buses from Jizan are also being used to transport additional families to the camp from their villages near the border with Yemen. Activities have been arranged for the entertainment of the refugees. Football games and sports competitions are held daily, and toys and playgrounds for children are available in the southwestern part of the camp. The Saudi Civil Defense has recently established a media center in the camp with the aim of facilitating the flow of information to the media and of curtailing rumors that the Ahad Al-Masareha camp also provides housing for Yemeni refugees.
