Effat opens new computer-enhanced technology lab
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 19 - 11 - 2009

Effat University inaugurated its technology-enhanced laboratory equipped with computers which will enable students to communicate with their teachers in the University as well as research centers and major libraries around the world.
The new classroom contains 21 high technology desktop computers connected via the internal network of the University, in addition to all necessary accessories.
The technology upgrade was completed with the support of Construction Products Holding Company (CPC), which has strong ties to Effat University, and in recognition of the University's strategic role in serving the community and to assist in its growth and development.
On this occasion, Dr. Haifa Jamal Al Lail, president of Effat University, expressed her thanks and appreciation to CPC for the support, which she described as “distinctive”, and said: “CPC has been a long time supporter of Effat University, and we are thankful for their generosity. CPC's support to Effat University would inspire and lead our students to be more innovative and empower them to play a leading role in our society and in the world “.
Previously, CPC had already implemented a program to train students majoring in Architecture at Effat University, on design works at one of the major consulting offices in Egypt.
She added: “CPC's initiative to upgrade the technological capabilities of our classrooms would definitely be a big boost to our students. What CPC has done is to set an example for the private sector to follow and support all stages of education, in order to enable educational institutions to continue their mission and graduate distinguished scholars to be able to deal with modern technologies and meet the new challenges.”
She expressed hope that the Saudi private sector would be inspired by CPC's initiative and become an active supporter of private educational institutions, especially for the non-profit ones, as is the case in many countries around the world, which will enable these institutions to evolve and improve curriculum and teaching.
Dr. Faysal Alaquil, director, Business Development and Administrative Affairs of CPC, said: “This initiative forms part of our corporate social responsibility program. As one of the leading national companies, it is incumbent upon us to help in the development of this nation and its people. We have realized the enormous efforts undertaken by Effat University for upgrading their educational facilities and we wanted to support them in this regard.”
