Dr. Saleh Bin Humaid, Chairman of the Higher Judicial Council, is scheduled to meet Sunday with members of the judiciary in general and district courts here to listen to the concerns of judges and other judicial officials. Sheikh Dr. Rashed Al-Hazza', President of the General Court, and Sheikh Abdullah Al-Othaim, President of the District Court, said that among the most important issues that will be discussed are clauses in the new regulations pertaining to conflict of powers. This is in addition to the problem of the shortage of judges in the general and district courts, as the ratio of judges in Jeddah is currently one judge to 50,000 people in the General Court. Bin Humaid will listen to the judges' views on the jurisdiction of the first degree courts, i.e., the general courts and the affiliated specialist bureaus, such as the traffic, pilgrims and Umrah-performers bureaus. Other issues will also be discussed, such as supporting the executive bureau in Jeddah Court with a sufficient number of judges; expediting the review of new regulations and the executive systems and the statutes pertaining to them and linking the General Court electronically with the Higher Judicial Council. Other concerns include the training and re-training of judges; cooperation of the General Court with universities in terms of providing lectures by judges and opening masters and doctorate academic programs for judges. Sheikh Al-Hazza' valued the distinctive efforts being exerted by the Chairman of the Higher Judicial Council aimed at supporting, developing and improving the judicial environment.
