The new Ajyad Hospital in Makkah has had its bed numbers increased to 52, with further improvements to facilities including departments for intensive care, cardiac and pulmonary resuscitation units, according to Health Affairs in Makkah. The hospital has also been equipped with extra laboratories, digital radiology and ultrasound sections, a pharmacy, a medical records department, a nutrition center, and an information center linked to the central network of the Health Affairs. Improvements have also been made at other medical facilities, according to regional director Khaled Dhafar. “A new 20-bed section for one-day surgery has been built at King Abdul Aziz Hospital in Makkah, along with two operation rooms, six rooms for post anesthesia recovery and a pre-operation room, as well as blood donation, tissue and tuberculosis sections,” Dhafar said. “The intensive care unit has also been equipped with new facilities and 20 new beds are available in the hospital.” Ibn Sina Hospital has had its number of beds increased to 100, and two new health care centers inside the Haram are operational. Health care centers in Mina have also been improved and Al-Jamarat Bridge now has 20 centers. The 100-bed King Saud Hospital in Jeddah has 25 beds for intensive care patients to serve pilgrims coming through Jeddah airport, Dhafar added. 1,055,000 cattle imported This year's Haj pilgrimage will see the importation of 1,055,000 heads of cattle to be added to the numbers supplied by local cattle dealers, and the provision of 12 million meals. A Ministry of Trade and Commerce statement said that all the preparation details for this year's pilgrimage have been finalized and that estimations for food supply requirements have been set. Some 505 street stalls will also be granted licenses, 320 of them for sites at Mina.
