Okaz newspaper reported Monday that security forces had detained eight children armed with bombs and explosives attempting to enter Saudi territory. It was reported that the children, whose ages were not specified, told investigators that infiltrators from Yemen had armed them with explosives and instructed them to blow themselves up at populated settlements. One of the targets cited was camps set up for displaced villagers and refugees. The report added that the infiltrators made frequent use of the “innocence of children, the elderly and local shepherds” who were easily able to cross into the Kingdom over border areas of shared tribal land.
