The Directorate of Civil Defense in Madina Region has started implementing its plan for this year's Haj season. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Director General of Civil Defense in Madina Region, Maj. Gen. Saleh Bin Salem Al-Mahous, said that the plan focuses mainly on developing fixed centers in the central area surrounding the Prophet's Mosque and the pilgrim cities by sea and land in addition to operating seven seasonal centers located on the highways leading to Madina. He added that alongside each center, there is a department for emergency cases. These centers are in addition to the major centers working throughout the year consisting of five internal centers and three external centers associated with 20 units comprising 38 fire and rescue brigades located in neighborhoods of Madina. Meanwhile, the directorate general of Water Department in Makkah Region has approved its operational plan in Makkah and the holy sites. The Directorate's Supervisor General Eng. Mohammed Bin Ahmed Baghdadi said that the plan included preparation for additional water for pilgrims. All water reservoirs in Makkah and the holy places have been filled with their storage capacity of 2.5 million cubic meters and that there are 63 water reservoirs in Makkah and the holy places. He estimated that the average daily amount of water coming to Makkah during the Haj season amounts to 410,000 cubic meters.
