The Saudi UMA (Universal Motor Agency) team driver Abdul Aziz Al-Yaish finished second behind Fahd Al-Musalim of Bahrain in the Lumina CSV Middle East Championship, which is sponsored by Chevrolet Motorsport. Al-Yaish tallied 152 points to the first placed Al-Muslim's 156. The third place went to Sheikh Hamad Bin Eissa Al-Khalifa (137) of Bahrain. The event was held at the Bahrain GP Circuit last week. The winner of the last championship Tarek Jamal of Australia had to retire due to penalties imposed. The keen competition of the final round began with Al-Yaish taking off from the last position due to penalties incurred in the first race for driving his car for a round and a half without one of the wheels. The eight rounds were very competitive among the drivers. In the second round, champion Jamal was surprised to see Al-Yaish following closely in the second position and a keen duel began. Al-Yaish succeeded in getting past the champion. Jamal then began a fierce chase and forced Al-Yaish into trouble by deviating from the field. Consequently the black flag was raised and Jamal was out of the race. After Jamal's exclusion, Sheikh Hamad took the lead. Al-Yaish fought hard and finally managed to earn the second position behind Al-Musalim. Al-Yaish said after the race: “I thank Allah. I tried my best to win the title but it slipped again out of my hands. I consider this race as one of the best races that I have participated. Though I started from the last position to get a place on the podium. “I won the second position of the championship and teams championship Cup. I take this opportunity to thank UMA for its continuous support.” Saleh Al-Naqeeb, UMA General Manager, Marketing and Sales, said: “I congratulate the talented driver Abdul Aziz Al-Yaish for ranking second and congratulate UMA Motorsport for winning teams' championship cup.” He praised UMA efforts in continuing the support to the Saudi youth in motorsport. He also promised to begin a program in the future for finding talented Saudi drivers.” Results (drivers): 1. Fahd Al-Muslim 191 points, 2. Abdul Aziz Al-Yaish 169, 3. Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa 169, 4.
