Widespread support for KSA's stand against infiltrating militants
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 08 - 11 - 2009

There has been widespread local and international support for the Kingdom in the face of the infiltration of militants into Saudi territory from Yemen which last week resulted in the death of one member of the Kingdom's security forces and the injury of a number of others.
The Shoura Council condemned the infiltration and abuses committed by the militants at Jabal Al-Dukhan (Mount of Smoke) in the Jizan region.
In a statement, the speaker of the Shoura Council, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh, said that he had full confidence in the ability of the security forces of Saudi Arabia, under the prudent leadership of King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, to protect its territory, secure its borders and deter the aggressors. Al-Sheikh also paid tribute to the security men who have been guarding the borders of their homeland and sacrificing their lives for the sake of their own homeland.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has vowed full support for the Kingdom in defense of its territory and protection of its borders against any attacks.
In a statement, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zaid Al-Nahayan, foreign minister of the UAE, said that based on the fraternal ties and the common fate binding the two countries, the UAE firmly stands by the side of Saudi Arabia and considers that what harms its neighbor harms the UAE. He described the steps taken by the Kingdom as part of its duty to defend its territory and maintain its sovereignty and stability.
UAE will never tolerate any transgression of the Kingdom's national security as it is part of the UAE security, he said.
Jordan has also condemned the infiltration of the militants and the killing and wounding of a number of Saudi military personnel.
Minister of State for Information and Communication and official spokesman of the Jordanian government, Nabil Al-Sharif, on Friday reaffirmed Jordan's support for Saudi Arabia. He rejected any infringement of Saudi Arabia's security and its citizens' safety.
Al-Sharif said, “Saudi Arabia has the right to defend its territories and borders with all means as it forms the major pillar of Arab security.”
In a press statement, Sheikh Hamad Bin Jabir Al-Ali Al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti ambassador to the Kingdom, expressed the full support of Kuwait to the Kingdom in the face of any aggression.
The ambassador said that Kuwait will not tolerate abuse or harm to any inch of the territory of the Kingdom. “The State of Kuwait and its citizens are ready to participate, even sacrifice, to defend the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its people against any attack. Any attack on the Kingdom's sovereignty is considered an attack on the sovereignty of Kuwait,” he added.
He denounced the infiltration of militants into Saudi Arabia and praised the wisdom and vision of King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, in dealing with this situation to ensure the safety of the country and citizens in all its territory.
He expressed his confidence in the ability of the Saudi armed forces to protect its borders and wished a speedy recovery for those who received injuries and expressed optimism that they will soon return to their postings to defend Saudi Arabia.
