The employee of a security company suspected of stealing SR1.6 million last Sunday from an armored bank vehicle he was employed to protect was arrested Saturday, police said. Investigations showed that the man had “suspicious” relationships, a thread that the police traced to arrest him. The police penetrated the man's circle of friends in Hindawiya District where a female friend guided them to the man's hide-out. When arrested, the man said that he struck a deal with one of his friends to follow the vehicle used in the replenishment of cash of ATM machines and monitor the movement of his security colleagues. When the man's two colleagues got off the vehicle for a quick trip to the mall, the man and his friend loaded their car with SR1.6 million from the vehicle and fled, leaving behind an extra SR1.8 million in a bag inside the armored vehicle. The man and his friend went on a shopping spree of around SR600,000 for themselves and their girlfriends. The two hid the remaining SR1,000,000 in a deserted backyard, which the police recovered.
