A Pakistani brigadier escaped assassination Friday in Islamabad. Gunmen on a motorbike shot the military intelligence official and his driver at close range in Sector I-8 during the morning rush hour. The unidentified men attacked the brigadier when he was leaving for office, police said. “He just came out from his house... when two gunmen on a motorbike sprayed bullets at his vehicle. Luckily he survived. The gunmen fled,” said deputy superintendent of Islamabad police, Khurshid Khan. The army officer and his driver were taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for treatment of their wounds. This was the third attack on serving brigadiers in the past few weeks in Islamabad.
