Civil Defense, the Kingdom's authority for fire, safety and rescue services, has halted daytime construction work at a school in the region of Taif out of fear for the safety of pupils and staff. Officials ordered Taif's Educational Administration to stop work on the third floor of Al-Mouya Elementary School after noting that ceiling construction carried out while the school's 270 pupils and 34 teachers were in the building was putting them in danger. The construction work, Civil Defense officials said, must be conducted outside of school hours.
