The Jeddah and Riyadh regions saw 431 road accidents in 12 hours, with Riyadh police recording 33 accidents in a single 45-minute spell Wednesday, according to Traffic Police. None of the accidents was fatal. Officials said that the number of road users had risen over the last few days and that police were putting into action plans for traffic control on arteries leading to Makkah and Madina with an increased police presence and reduced tolerance of motoring infractions.
