Customs in the Eastern Province found 6,000 bottles of liquor hidden in a truck attempting to enter the Kingdom from an unnamed neighboring country Wednesday. The driver was held along with a man who was at the wheel of a different vehicle in which officers discovered seven metal detectors. Customs around the Kingdom had by Tuesday seized in two months alone more than 10,000 bottles of liquor and five million illegal pills. Al-Riyadh newspaper reported Wednesday a Customs spokesman as saying that the haul was the result of joint work conducted by Customs officials and officers from the anti-drugs squad. Border Guard authorities in Jizan, meanwhile, told the same newspaper that over the last two weeks 30,557 persons had been arrested at the region's national border charged with attempting to smuggle into the Kingdom a variety of prohibited materials including Captogon pills, unlicensed cattle and food products, and 174,205kg of hashish.
