year-old man was sentenced to four years in prison and 400 lashes of the whip for running an illegal abortion clinic inside his own car. The prosecutor has appealed to the Court of Cassations, which will review the sentence for final approval, for more severe punishment. The man, whose name was not released, was caught red-handed conducting an operation on a woman who was pregnant out of wedlock using smuggled pills and injections. The man, who worked for a private company, was said to have carried out at least ten illegal abortions. He, however, only admitted to being involved in one such case.
