A shootout with gunmen on the Kingdom's southern border with Yemen killed one Saudi soldier and wounded 11 others, the Saudi Press Agency reported Wednesday. The injured were transferred to Samtah and Ahd Masarha hospitals. A Saudi security official was quoted by the SPA as saying the unidentified gunmen infiltrated from Yemen and attacked security guards patrolling the 2000-meter-high Mount Dokhan border area Tuesday. “The infiltrators used various weapons to fire at (Saudi) border guards,” the SPA said. “The Kingdom will not compromise on the security of its people and integrity of its land,” said Prince Muhammad Bin Nasser, Emir of Jizan. This is a red line not to be crossed at any cost, he said. He reassured the citizens that it was a passing incident. “The situation is under control in the Khuba area and the culprits will be apprehended and punished for their crimes.” He said that the Kingdom would leave no stone unturned to ensure the safety of its citizens. The soldiers injured in the shootout were receiving treatment and were reportedly in stable condition. The prince performed the funeral prayers for martyr Turki Al-Qahtani at King Fahd Mosque in Jizan Wednesday. Prince Muhammad Bin Nasser has vowed the Kingdom's support for the security and stability of Yemen.
