King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, has said that Saudi Arabia cannot achieve global competitiveness without quality being the “fundamental yardstick by which it measures what it offers to the rest of the world, with excellence derived from the teachings of Islam”, and that quality has become “the most important grounding for the Kingdom to achieve international recognition with the products and services that reflect the country and its people's potential”. King Abdullah's words were spoken on his behalf by the Minister of Trade and Industry, Abdullah Zainal, at the launching of the second Quality Forum in Riyadh on Tuesday evening, which also witnessed the inauguration of new projects from the Saudi Arabian Standards Organization (SASO). The King said that SASO's vision was to make the Kingdom a “global measure of quality through its products and services” so that “we gain the status appropriate for our nation in a time that has place only for those who take knowledge for their path and quality and excellence for their program”.
