A government property seizure committee has started acquiring land plots and buildings for the new expansion projects of the western and eastern plazas of the Prophet's Mosque. The committee comprises of representatives from the Madina Mayoralty, the Finance Ministry, the Development Commission of Makkah and Madina, and the General Presidency of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque Affairs. The seizure of private properties to the western side of the Mosque has started from Salam Road, south, to Amro Bin Al-A'as Street, north, and from Saeed Bin Zaid Street, west, to Manakha, east. On the eastward expansion of the Prophet's Mosque, the seizure has accounted for private properties between King Abdul Aziz Road, south, and Khaled Bin Amro Street, north, and also for properties between Obadah Ibn Al-Samit Street, east, and Abu Talha Al-Ansari, west. Bus stations and underground parking lots would be set up on both projected expanded plazas to reduce traffic and allow for easier pilgrim movement. The plazas would also have more prayer areas.
