Rital, a Saudi child, was pronounced brain dead Monday a day after being admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at Manchester Royal Hospital in the United Kingdom suspected of suffering from swine flu. Hind Al-Najjar, Rital's mother, requested the Saudi Embassy in London to rush the body to the Kingdom if the hospital decided to switch off the life-support machine. Rital experienced a sudden high temperature, which resulted in her undergoing cardio pulmonary resuscitation in the ICU which, however, failed to restore her brain functions. Al-Najjar who is on scholarship in the UK is working on her Ph.D dissertation on the health care of premature babies. She also worked with the current Saudi Minister of Health Abdulaziz Al-Rabeah on the separation of two conjoined twins.
