The 31st International Event for Motor, Vehicles, and SUVs (SIMS'09) was opened here on Sunday by Mefreh Al-Zahrani, Undersecretary of the Minister of Transport, at the Jeddah Center for Forums and Events. The motor show, which is being held with the participation of more than 50 companies and agencies distributing cars, spare parts and accessories, will be open daily from 5 P.M. to 10 P.M. until Oct. 29. “The exhibition opens the way for the major players in the automotive sector to display their latest products,” said Waleed Waked, Executive Manager of Al-Harthi Company for Exhibitions (ACE), which is organizing the motor show. He added, “The exhibition underlines the Kingdom's prosperous economy and high purchasing power which allows motorists to buy the cars of their choice whether they be family cars, sports cars, or four-wheel drive luxury vehicles.” Nazir Asa'd, Director of Al-Harthi Exhibition's Public Relations Department said that “more than 200 new car models were on display at SIMS'09 with ten new vehicles being launched at the motor show”. He added that at least five companies were exhibiting their cars in the Kingdom for the first time. According to Zahoor Siddique, ACE's Exhibitions Director, the motor show displays the latest accessories and motor vehicle technology. “SIMS'09 provides a rare marketing opportunity for the car industry to exhibit their latest innovations,” he said.
