The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has set up a Consumer Protection Department and contracted a firm of lawyers to define its tasks, as part of the authority's internal restructuring plans. GACA President Abdullah Rahimy is also scheduled to address a two-day GACA symposium on protection of the consumer Sunday. The International Financing Corporation is, meanwhile, preparing documentation for turning Madina's Prince Muhammad Bin Abdul Aziz Airport into an international facility. Rahimy said the Royal decree for the airport's expansion would help meet the increasing numbers of pilgrims, and that works with the private sector company would save on operational costs and gain from experience in other expansion projects, such as those at King Abdul Aziz Airport. Rahimy said that passenger traffic at the airport was projected to grow by eight percent per year.
