Microsoft launches Windows 7 in Saudi Arabia
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 25 - 10 - 2009

Microsoft announced on Saturday that computer users in Saudi Arabia will now be able to use Windows 7, the new release of Windows, the most famous operating system in the world.
The new operating system is expected to receive a huge response from users across the different segments and sectors, as it is packed with world-class features that offer powerful new functionalities and user-friendly applications.
Commenting on the launch, Samir No'man, president, Microsoft KSA, said: “During the current economic climate, companies are searching for smart solutions that reduce costs and enhance business productivity and performance. Windows 7 will allow users to do their work in new and innovative ways coupled with the flexibility to adapt to unique work environments. It will also offer businesses innovative management enhancements and exciting new features that deliver enhanced security and streamline manageability. The development process has been more collaborative and we are excited about the potential and the combined value we can provide to our customers in Saudi Arabia.”
Over the past eighteen months, Microsoft has received feedback from more than a billion users around the world, suggesting how to simplify the daily tasks. This has helped the company to better design Windows 7, allowing the user to fully redesign the task bar, work smarter, cut clutter, enlarge and edit photos, share videos, know the status of all connected devices such as cameras, mobile phones, and make it easier to synchronize and manage them.
The user can now benefit from the focus on underlying performance, faster startup, resuming shutdown time, and enhanced power management.
As for safeguarding the data on the PC it is now easier with the advanced backup capabilities and the free Microsoft Security Essentials download to protect it against viruses, spyware and other malicious software.
Windows 7 will also support multi-touch techniques available on touch screens, enabling the user to use his fingers instead of the keyboard or mouse, in addition to enjoying entertainment files like music, games, pictures, and videos, and also watching TV channels online. The system is also designed to best handle the future changes in this field.
Sherif Morsi, Windows Client Business Group head, said IT experts in Small and Medium Businesses will have a collection of tools and support features, capable of enhancing the software's performance and compatibility, that will also facilitate downloading and transferring the data and information securely.
The system is now available at all sales channels, in addition to Microsoft's partners across the Kingdom, Sherif added.
