Defending champion Shakhtar Donetsk romped to a 4-0 victory over Toulouse and Benfica hit three goals in six minutes in thumping Everton 5-0 in the Europa League Thursday. Luis Fernandinho scored twice as Shakhtar made it three wins in three Group J games against the struggling French club, and Luiz Adriano and Tomas Hubschman added further goals for the Ukrainian side in Donetsk. Fernandinho scored from the penalty spot in the eighth minute after Dany Nounkeu handled. Adriano collected a long pass from Jadson to fire the second in the 24th and Tomas Hubschman drove home Razvan Rat's cross in the 39th to give Shakhtar a 3-0 halftime lead. Adriano backheeled a cross into the net for the fourth in the 56th. While Shakhtar has nine points from three games, Brugge drew level on four points with Toulouse with a 2-0 win over Partizan Belgrade thanks to two goals by Croatian striker Ivan Perisic, who also missed a penalty. Partizan has lost all three games. Javier Saviola and Oscar Cardosa scored twice each as Benfica outplayed injury-hit Everton in Lisbon. Luisao headed in the fourth to end a spell of three goals in six minutes just after halftime. The victory put Benfica atop Group I although level on six points with Everton, which hopes to reverse the result when they meet again in Liverpool in two weeks. BATE Borisov came from behind to beat AEK Athens 2-1, leaving both teams with three points in the chase behind Benfica and Everton. Two goals by Alex Frei put Basel on top of Group E with a 2-0 win at CSKA Sofia after Roma captured a 1-1 draw at Fulham thanks to a goal in the third minute of injury time by Marco Andreolli. A second-minute penalty by Luis Suarez put Ajax on course to a 2-1 Group A victory over Dynamo Zagreb to put the Dutch level on points with Anderlecht, which was held to 0-0 by Romania's Politehnica Timisoara.
