Dubai-based Mammut Group on Thursday announced that work had started on a AED500 million construction contract awarded by master planners Nakheel for one phase of Waterfront - the largest planned urban development in the world. Located on the western shores of Dubai near Jebel Ali, Waterfront will transform 1.4 billion square feet of empty desert and sea into an international community for an estimated population of 1.4 million people that is twice the size of Hong Kong Island. The contract entails the design, construction and associated works for more than 140 villas and more than 850 apartments in the Badrah district of Waterfront. The contract will be carried out for the first phase over a period 12-18 months. Mammut Chairman and CEO, Behzad Ferdows said “we are committed to ensuring the highest quality of engineering works expected by Nakheel. For Mammut, this is an exciting project that will see significant through put of our new state of the art pre-cast factory based in TechnoPark which we have committed for this project.”
