NSHR addresses concerned authorities By Muhammed Al-Enzi DAMMAM – The National Society for Human Rights (NSHR) has addressed the authorities in charge to put an end to violation of laboring female and male workers beyond the working hours defined by the Saudi labor law. It said this malpractice takes place at a time the workers get very low salaries. Dr. Saleh Al-Khathlan, Deputy Chairman of the NSHR, said the society has moved due to the growing increase in number of complaints lodged with it. Inquires conducted by the society in some of these cases proved to be true, he said. – Okaz/SG First women-only restaurant opens in Jizan By Abdu Alwani JIZAN – Two women here have launched the first women-only restaurant in the region. “It's a dream I had for years and finally it came true,” said Hessah Al-Harbi, a co-owner. Workers include 11 Saudis, 6 Egyptians and Indonesians, said Aamna Shou'e, the second co-owner, adding the salaries range between SR1,500 and 3,000. She said the place that cost SR350,000 serves traditional, Shami and Western dishes and contains an open space for women and for families, in addition to home delivery service. – Okaz/SG Ties with Unesco to be enhanced: Minister PARIS – Prince Faisal Bin Abdullah Bin Mohammed, Minister of Education, who is heading the Saudi delegation to Unesco's 35th General Conference, has said that the Kingdom “is working on boosting relations with international organizations concerned with sciences and education particularly Unesco”. Prince Faisal stressed that through such cooperation, the Kingdom could do a lot for the future of education. He also expressed happiness at the new phase Unesco is entering. The minister also lauded the King's endeavors for the development of education adding that such projects are like cornerstones for a better education with a sustainable development. – SPA An unfit ring spoils anniversary By Fahd Al-Muraikhi HAFR AL-BATEN – A couple celebrating their marriage anniversary had to spend most of the night at King Khaled Hospital here after the wife wore the ring her husband brought her on the occasion. The ring did not fit in the finger nor it could be pulled out. The Civil Defense personnel had to be called when even the doctors were unable to remove the ring from the finger. The ring was cut and the woman heaved a sigh of relief.
